Tempoross model. Work in progress.
ATTENTION ALL SKILLED FISHERMEN: We, The Spirit Anglers, need your help!
Seafarers have for many generations told chilling tales of the very sea itself coming to life. Such stories speak of waters amassing into colossal shifting forms that whip the waves into a raging storm. Perhaps you have heard talk of a vengeful Spirit of the Sea wantonly attacking sailors unprovoked? Or maybe you have heard, as some believe, that this Spirit is simply a guardian of the oceans, intent merely on fending off those who are disrespectful of its waters and wildlife?
Whatever the reason, talk of this Spirit is indeed correct. This is no mere story but in fact the work of Tempoross, the Spirit of the Sea. Much remains unknown, but our research thus far suggests the Spirit could be as old as Gielinor itself. And crucially, after lying dormant for centuries, it has finally awoken.
We of course seek to understand the reasons behind its sudden resurgence, but there are also more pressing concerns. The Spirit is coalescing once again, causing intense storms that make crossing its path a perilous task. As such, The Spirit Anglers have been formed to investigate, whilst keeping it subdued to quell the storm and allow safe passage.
We need your help! Join us and save the seas!
Changelist
- Fish barrel can only be used at banks.
- Clarified the stats for the Tome of Water will be similar to the Tome of Fire.
- Added gif of the Spirit Angler's Outfit so it can be seen from all angles.
Requirements
- Level 35 Fishing
- Membership
XP rates scale between Fishing level 35-70, and in this range should offer the best Fishing XP in the game, albeit at the cost of receiving fewer fish - and being more intensive. At level 35 we're aiming for approximate XP rates of 30k XP/ph, and at level 70 it will be no more than 55k-60k XP/ph.
Gameplay
A new port in the estuary by Al Kharid Bank will serve as the lobby area, providing a ferry to Tempoross.
The boss' health and energy will scale according to the number of players facing it.
To quell the storm, you will need to catch special Harpoonfish and load them into the Harpoon Cannons. Whilst loaded, these will continuously fire Harpoonfish at Tempoross, breaking it up and reducing its energy.
You can be sure, however, that Tempoross won't retreat without a fight! The boss will:
- periodically create giant waves to knock down anyone who hasn't securely tied themselves to the mast, causing them to lose some resources overboard.
- target a Harpoon Cannon with a constant watery blast, rendering it unusable for a short period.
- summon lightning from the storm, striking areas of the ground and setting them on fire.
Placing a lightning rod on areas targeted by lightning will prevent any damage, and fires from missed strikes can be put out with a bucket of water.
Tempoross' energy must be reduced before the storm gets too intense, otherwise you'll need to retreat early. Once depleted, Tempoross will disperse into the whirlpool and begin gathering energy. This is your chance to permanently remove the Spirit Fish that energise it by fishing in the whirlpool. Once Tempoross' energy is full, it'll coalesce and attack once again. This cycle will repeat until you remove enough Spirit Fish that it can no longer rejuvenate. For now, at least...
Rewards are earned from Salvaged Crates that are dropped at the end of the encounter. These will always contains some resources but of course, should you prevail and successfully subdue Tempoross, you'll receive more resources and earn a chance of gaining unique rewards!
Salvage Crates
All Salvaged Crates contain varying amounts fish, the type of which depends on your Fishing level. As before, more resources are awarded if Tempoross is successfully subdued.
Spirit Bait
Much as the Spirit of Tempoross itself attracts fish, Spirit Bait is an untradeable resource that when automatically consumed while fishing, improves your chance of catching extra fish for no XP. This effect stacks with Rada's Blessing.
We are currently looking at a 50% chance of catching extra fish though we are open to feedback before any implementation.
This will be a common reward in varying amounts, though keeping a supply of Spirit Bait on hand will require regular encounters with Tempoross.
Fish Barrel
This barrel can store a total of 28 raw fish, and can store multiple species simultaneously. Fish can only be removed from the barrel at a bank, similar to the looting bag.
The Fish Barrel is untradeable and is fairly rare.
Tackle Box
Additional storage for fishing equipment including rods, feathers, bait and the Angler's outfit. Equipment can't be used from the box and must first be taken out. This saves on Bank space and improves organisation.
The Tackle Box is untradeable and is fairly rare.
Spirit Angler's Outfit Style
You are able to hand in a piece of the Angler's outfit along with a large amount of Spirit Bait to an NPC to transform it into a Spirit Angler's outfit piece for the same slot. This is an alternative style for the Angler's outfit, and has the same stats and Fishing XP bonus. The outfit can be converted back to the standard Angler's style by speaking to the same NPC, although Spirit Bait will not be refunded.
Tome of Water and Damp Pages
The Tome of Water is a new offhand magic item, similar to Tome of Fire (including stats), but for water spells.
Water spells are unsurprisingly weak compared to the fire alternatives, so the goal of this item is less so about raw damage and more about utility. The effects while wielding the charged tome are as follows:
- Unlimited water runes
- Standard Spellbook Water, Curse and Binding spell accuracy is increased by 10%
- Standard Spellbook Curse effects are increased by 50% (e.g. the 10% defense reduction from Vulnerability would become 15%)
- Standard Spellbook Binding effects are increased by 30% (e.g. the 10 second root from Snare would become 13 seconds)
Water combat spells, Weakening, and Binding spells will consume one charge
The Tome of Water will require level 50 Magic to equip.
The uncharged Tome of Water and the Damp Pages will be tradeable, the charged Tome of Water will be untradeable.
The Tome of Water is a rare reward whilst the Damp Pages are somewhat rare.

Now that you’ve heard all about the Fishing Skill Boss, the time has come for you to decide whether this is something you’d like to see in the game.
The following questions are not final. As with any blog that contains prospective poll questions, we’ll be making amendments as your feedback comes in. Check the changelist at the top of this blog for the latest updates!
Should we add Tempoross, a medium intensity fishing skill boss with competitive XP rates between level 35-70?
If Question 1 passes, should Spirit Bait be a potential reward from Tempoross?
If Question 1 passes, should the Tome of Water and Damp Pages be potential rewards from Tempoross? When wielded, this would count as unlimited Water Runes and increase accuracy of Standard Spellbook water, weakening and binding spells .
If Question 3 passes, should the Tome of Water also slightly increase the duration of Binding Spells from the Standard Spellbook? This would affect Bind, Snare and Entangle.
If Question 3 passes, should the Tome of Water slightly increase the effectiveness of curse spells from the Standard Spellbook? This would affect Confuse, Weaken, Curse, Vulnerability, Enfeeble and Stun.
If Question 1 passes, should the Fish Barrel be a potential reward from Tempoross?
If Question 1 passes, should the Tackle Box be a potential reward from Tempoross?
If Question 1 passes, should we add the Spirit Angler's outfit as an alternative style earned by combining an item earned from the boss with pieces of the standard Angler's outfit? You would be able to get another Angler's outfit from existing sources if desired.
We’re aware that the ability to store fish in a Fish Barrel or fishing supplies in a Tackle Box will make a difference for Ultimate Iron accounts in the way they train Cooking and Fishing. Perhaps you feel that your mode should change in turn with the rest of the game – or perhaps you feel that this update would make UIM mode too easy. We'll use the following questions to see if the UIM are comfortable accepting the Fish Barrel and Tackle Box alongside the Fishing Skill Boss update.
Only Ultimate Iron accounts are eligible to vote on the following two questions. Others will be forced to skip.

If Question 6 passes, should the Fish Barrel be available to Ultimate Iron players as a reward from Tempoross?
If Question 7 passes, should the Tackle Box be available to Ultimate Iron players as a reward from Tempoross?

The Old School Team
Old School RuneScape offers one of the best MMORPG experiences around, and having it on mobile means that people can farm up OSRS gold wherever they are. It might be the same game, but there are some notable differences between OSRS Mobile and the PC version. Let’s take a look at how you can use these differences to your advantage as we have outlined a few tips and tricks that are sure to give new players and veterans alike a boost in their mobile adventure!
Cross-Platform Play
Perhaps the greatest decision that Jagex has made is that Old School RuneScape Mobile is completely cross-platform. Meaning that you can log in to the same OSRS account you’ve been using for years and pick up right where you left off on your PC. Although it’s exactly the same game, there are some tasks that can be performed easily in OSRS Mobile while others are best left with the usage of a mouse and keyboard. Grind-heavy tasks are great when playing on mobile, as are any traditional AFK tasks such as mining, woodcutting, fishing, and crafting.
Access to Grand Exchange
The Grand Exchange (GE) is a trading system for players to buy and sell almost all tradable items and is considered to be the official marketplace of OSRS. OSRS Mobile allows you to check the Grand Exchange from anywhere, giving you the opportunity to potentially snag a few good deals at any given time. But just because you have free access to it doesn’t mean there aren’t any restrictions to the OSRS Grand Exchange. Players are limited to a certain number of slots to buy or sell items. Paying members get eight slots, while free-to-play players get three. Free players must also get at least seven quest points or be active 24 hours to gain access.

Save Your Battery Life
Playing games on your mobile device is a surefire way to drain your battery in a matter of minutes. This can be a pain if you’re planning on having a session before going out or want to have longer sessions before having to recharge your phone.
Here are some tips to consider to make the game perform faster while using up less battery life:
Background Data
If you play OSRS Mobile and often switch apps, you’ll notice that you get disconnected and have to log back in. This can get pretty annoying—especially if you’re a frequent user. To prevent this, go to the app’s setting and enable background data. This will not reduce the game’s performance in any noticeable capacity. In addition to that, the OSRS Mobile app uses only a few megabytes of data per hour, so you’re not necessarily wasting data either!

Close Interfaces
Another useful trick is to close interfaces. Whenever you’re skilling and depositing your inventory to your bank, it can be hard to close the bank due to the ‘x’ on the top right corner being too small. Furthermore, using the back button on your phone will only serve to close any interface you have open. Another generic tip is to use bank fillers to deposit your inventory quickly.
Zoom In, Not Out
Most phones have a magnifier option; this is located in your phone’s settings app as an accessibility option. Fortunately, all accessibility tools are allowed to be used in-game, and this includes mouse keys on Windows. Using the magnifier, you can focus on your inventory which is very useful in instances where you’re fletching darts.
Wrap Up
And that’s about it for our tips when playing OSRS Mobile; hopefully, you’ve learned a thing or two about how to make your OSRS Mobile experience better and more efficient, so you can earn OSRS gold without having to log on into your PC.
